Donate to St. Joseph’s Mission Food Bank

There are several ways to donate to the St. Joseph’s Mission Food Bank. Whether it is food and other grocery items, funds, volunteering time or your professional services, all donations are greatly appreciated. As the necessity for food subsidies increases, it is essential that the St. Joseph’s Mission Food Bank is capable of continuing its care and support of the community. Your help is needed more than ever to help those in need.
Non-perishable food items are always needed and appreciated, but food is only one way to support those in need. Other groceries items such as personal care products (shampoo, soap, toothpaste and brushes, razors, shaving cream, etc.), paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, Kleenex, etc.), cleaning supplies (laundry and dish detergent, sanitizers, bathroom cleaners, etc.), baby items (diapers, wipes, formula, etc.) and even pet food and supplies are very helpful.

Food items that are most useful are ones that contribute to a healthy meal or school lunch, like pasta and rice, canned fish, meat, fruit and vegetables, soups and stews, granola bars, cereal, beans and lentils, etc. Junk food is not recommended.

Mission’s 4 grocery outlets, Save-on Foods, Freshco, Walmart and Canadian Superstore, have food donation bins at their exits for your convenience.

Funds are always needed at St. Joseph’s Mission Food Bank for operating costs, such as utilities and wages. There are many ways to donate funds such as workplace fundraising, hosting an event and becoming a corporate sponsor. Corporate donations are tax deductible and show that your company helps and cares for the community and people in need.

Another way to contribute funds is to donate your recycling. Cans and bottles can be dropped off in clear bags at Return-It recycling in Mission. Label the bags with St. Joseph’s name and phone number and funds will go directly into the food bank account. You can also donate your scrap metal with Fraser Valley Metal Recycling (old cars, heavy equipment, trailers, appliances, etc.).

Dedicated, caring volunteers power the much-needed food bank services in Mission. Volunteers can aid in anything from sorting and weighing, packaging hampers, picking up donations, restocking and repackaging grocery items and distributing to those in need. Help is also required for fundraising events and on call pick-ups with the refrigeration truck.

Volunteering is a rewarding experience that gives back to and builds a stronger community. It creates friendships and build’s confidence and self-worth. It enhances your resume and build’s new skills. If you have thought about volunteering in the community, give the St. Joseph’s Mission Food Bank a call for more information about how you can join our team of dedicated volunteers.

Services
Donating your time and professional services frees up funds to go to much needed provisions for those who are experiencing food insecurity. Maintenance on grounds, building and vehicles, etc., are recurring costs of running the food bank and opportunities for individuals and businesses to support their community. If you are an electrician, carpenter, painter, plumber, mechanic, etc., your expertise and time would be an invaluable contribution.
Donating-The Time is Now
Donating makes a significant difference to individuals and families. Your generosity helps The St. Joseph’s Food Bank assist the community, with all donations remaining local. If you are able, please consider donating to help others in need. United, we are stronger.
